We have here the first distribution of Android updates This 2017. Google has updated yesterday dated 9 January data with the current penetration of different versions of its mobile operating system.

The surprise of this month can be found in Android 2.2 Froyo launched in 2010, and is that at last disappears the distribution of updates after several months resisting with a 0.1% market penetration. This means that the yogurt ice cream version is now below the 0.1%, which its presence in the market longer residual, and this is why WhatsApp decided to stop giving support to this version was back on January 1.

The most recent versions of the operating system, Android Marshmallow y Android Nougat they are the only ones that are gaining market share thanks to devices which are updating and leaving factory with these versions. Marshmallow moves from 26.3% to 29.6% and Nougat passes from 0.4% to 0.7%.

This month we see as appear in distributing two versions of Nougat. In particular Android 7.0 is 0.5% and Android 7.0 in 0.2%. The expansion is still very slow but is normal, since until the middle of this year not it will pick up speed their penetration into the market thanks to the new phones and updates to Nougat.

Other versions still losing presence on the market. Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich have already the month to run the same fate as Android Froyo, since both versions are already in the 1.0% and 1.1% of devices.
